Spend A Day At The Minnesota State Fair

If you’re looking for entertainment, rides, and delicious food all in one place, head to the Minnesota State Fair. This year it takes place August 25 through September 5 and it’s approximately twenty-two minutes from Valley Creek Apartments. The State Fair began in 1859 and was held near the area now known as downtown Minneapolis. In 1885, it found a permanent home in St. Paul and today it is home to several historically significant structures such as the Coliseum and the Fine Arts Center. As you explore, you can enjoy things to see and do such as:

Rides – There are a variety of rides that spin, drop, or race around a track. They include go-karts, a giant slide, River Raft, SkyGlider, Space Tower, and Ye Old Mill (in operation since 1915, this is the oldest amusement at the fairgrounds).

Aisle of Breeds – Horse lovers won’t want to miss Aisle of Breeds. Visitors can meet a variety of horses and their owners, as well as ask questions about these amazing animals. The breeds rotate and may include Cleveland Bay, Norwegian Fjord, and Rocky Mountain Saddlehorse.

Moo Booth – The award-winning Moo Booth offers interactive fun for both children and adults. Activities include the Moo Quiz Show, butter carving competitions, and hand-milking a cow. You’ll also learn how milk is made and how much feed cows eat every day.

Daily Parade – The State Fair parade starts daily at 2:00 p.m., and it showcases animals, floats, marching bands, and specialty floats.

Live Entertainment – Musical guests at the Grandstand include Alabama (September 1), Weezer (September 3), and Bonnie Rait (September 5).
