Minneapolis has long been known as a great theater town, and it’s fairly close to your home at Valley Creek apartments. But did you know that the great theater town also extends to the Woodbury area? Woodbury Community Theatre is a local theater celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and known for great performances.
It’s not only open for the public to watch performances, but it also can transform audience members into performers! Auditions for the comedy Lend Me a Tenor, which was nominated for nine Tony awards during its Broadway run, are open to anyone in the community who have the desire to perform. They will be held on December 5, 7, and 8. The theater prides itself on providing camaraderie and fun as well as a great night at the theater.
The Woodbury Community Theater has a full slate of upcoming performances. A musical based on the beloved holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street will run December 4 to 13. Miracle on 34th Street is a classic film of the season, and the live production brings songs as well as holiday spirit to the Woodbury stage.
Lend Me a Tenor will run in February, followed by Stars on Broadway #3, a musical revue, in March. In April, Woodbury Community Theater will present Stephen Sondheim’s Tony award-winning A Little Night Music, a musical about the tragicomedies of love.
Performances take place at Merrill Community Arts Center’s East Ridge location at 4200 Pioneer Drive in Woodbury. Tickets are $18.00.
