Celebrate Oktoberfest In Woodbury

On September 15th and 16th, the Germanic-American Institute will host a lively Oktoberfest celebration at the Schmidt Brewery Artist’s Loft.

While the original Oktoberfest celebration in Munich dates back to 1810 when Princess Therese and Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married, the festivities in St. Paul only began in 2001.

There is plenty of fun to be had, so don your lederhosen and enjoy food, wiener dog races, and more:

Historical Walking Tours

Dave Bredemus of Schmidt Brewery will host tours of the building every hour. Originally built as the Cave Brewery, it is recognized by architectural historians for its crenelated tower and Gothic details.

Wedding Celebration

On September 16th at 5:30 p.m., the festival is hosting an authentic German wedding between Alyssa Van Zyl and Timotheos Leahy. All are welcome to attend, and dressing in European attire is requested.

Musical Entertainment

Polka Police – Polka Police now calls Omaha, Nebraska home, and this duo is a four-time Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award nominee. Brothers Jamie and Jason provide unique entertainment as they assume alternate personalities while on stage (Sargent Squeezebox and Lieutenant Lederhosen) and perform classic polkas, top 40 hits, and more.

Mark Stillman – Mark Stillman is an accordionist who specializes in ethnic music. Fans of the Minnesota Vikings will likely recognize him as he frequently plays at the games, and he has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and the Dallas Brass just to name a few. Don’t miss his performance as he knows how to entertain a crowd.

Oktoberfest is just one of the events that residents of Valley Creek Apartments can enjoy. If you would like to call our community home, please contact us to schedule a tour.
